Kemp Town’s own Gingerman outpost, in a lovely street corner site, is aptly named, being dog-friendly to the extent that the barman has gravy bone treats on offer for our furry friends. Two-legged punters do rather well with a multi-award winning menu based, as across the chain, on a wealth of trusted suppliers (see our Top 10 Food Pubs). Excellent craft beers in a true local ambience, with mix and match furniture – and locals! – give it a pubbier feel than Hove sibling The Ginger Pig. The constant ale is Harvey’s Sussex Bitter, joined by a rotating guest roster that might include beers from Bedlam, Franklins and 360 Degrees (the latter’s Oatmeal Stout is a huge favourite). It’s a good place too to sip cutting edge local examples of the botanicals revolution – the new Brighton Gin and artisan spirits from Blackdown.
