A Taste of Brighton Top 10 Restaurant (and, for added spice, a Good Food Guide fave) that does takeaways? That’s all part of the unstuffy charm of this idiosyncratic Indian. It might even be your best bet to sample their acclaimed cuisine that ranges across the Sub-Continent unless you book in advance. It’s packed most nights. Tandoori Platters of meat or fish and lunchtime Thalis are lavish, the Oxtail Madras a real winter rib-tickler, but snackier items such as the Mumbai street food, Pav Bhaji, satisfy, too, with their subtle spicing. In contrast, given the eaterie’s monicker, their pickles pack real punch. The move from cramped quarters in The Lanes into the modern myhotel has worked for both parties. The hotel’s restaurant space had bombed for previous tenants – notably high-profile Italian chef Aldo Zilli – but, with flashes of Indian colour enhancing the cool curves of the room, Chilli Pickle goes from strength to strength both in style and substance. In 2014 it received a coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand.
