You will find MARKET Restaurant and Bar in the heart of Hove. The first restaurant in the city where bar stool dining and cooking is the main activity, diners at the 50 cover restaurant can choose to eat at the bar and watch the chefs work their magic, take an intimate table or book Downmarket, for upmarket private dining.
Previously fine dining restaurant ‘Graze’, MARKET has a fresh new look, a swathe of Victorian Green metro tiling, mirrors, a lawn wall and a bright, clean, utilitarian approach to the furniture, lighting and wall usage. The bill of fare is a mixture of supplier-driven small plates ideal for sharing and aptly named on the menu ‘From the Green Grocer’, ‘From the Fish Monger’, ‘From the Butcher’ and includes delights such as scallops with wild boar bacon and honeyed parsnip puree, polenta, mushroom, and cream cheese balls with smoked paprika popcorn and the mysterious ‘Crashed Eggs!’.
Alongside these offerings are a selection from the ‘Market Classics’ which are a series of more familiar larger dishes from steaks to ‘Market Price’ fish of the day and on Saturdays and Sundays their Big Market Brunch menu is served from 10am.
The wine list and cocktail menu have been carefully chosen to match the food offering and locally brewed craft lager and beers are available on tap and by the bottle.
Small plates start from £2.50 with main dishes from £11.00. This is a great place for either a glass of wine and a small plate or for a full-on three course meal - either way, you will need to book.
