Calling itself ‘Brighton’s boho bistro’, Kooks is in the heart of the North Laines. It’s ethos is around sharing great food with friends in a stylish, friendly atmosphere whilst enjoying a sound track curated by DJ-owner Tim Healey. Opening in May 2015, the restaurant already has a number of very positive reviews under it’s belt. The daytime menu, which is served until 5pm consists of some good breakfast, brunch and sandwich options. The main lunch menu is served from midday and offers a range of dishes including burgers, fish & chips and a number of veggie options. Dinner, which is served from 6pm offers a slightly more substantial offering of, for example, Indian style chicken thighs with fragrant thighs, onion bhaji, picked apricots and mint raita or rosemary pork belly, macaroni mash and apple puree, honey roasted roots and apple cider sauce. They also do a very good steak and burger along with a number of tasty vegetarian options. Prices range from £5-£6 for a starter and £12-£17 for a main course.
