This popular cafe is located on the first floor of the chic I Gigi General Store. You ascend via a curved staircase into the French farmhouse kitchen of your dreams, offering an idiosyncratic but uniformly gorgeous cake range. They boast that all the food offering, including savoury snacks, is sourced from their own organic larder. Hence ‘Organic cream tea clotted cream, organic jam and organic tea – £10.80 for two’. We’d also recommend paying £3.80 for their huge home-made meringues with lashings of whipped cream, berries and a drizzle of coulis. Tea is suitably exotic – Chai Tea Bolly Good is Assam with exotic whole spices; the Rooibers Red is mahogany coloured, earthy, nutty and organic. A pot for two is £3.50. If you fancy wine it’s BYO with a £2 corkage charge. That would probably better accompany the Buxom Rarebit – Welsh rarebit topped with soft poached egg, crispy bacon bits and served with warm tomatoes and salad leaves (£9.80).
