Brighton Bier Co is a so-called "gypsy brewer – i.e. it moves around, brewing with other folk's equipment. Its base, though, is this eccentric Victorian corner local, where it creates a range of exclusive inhouse Kemptown Brewery beers in the smallest operating tower brewery in the world. We recommend the light session ale, Kemptown, and the full and fruity Ye Olde Trout. These and guest ales are pulled from s bank of six handpumps against a backdrop of fairy lights, bric a brac, tie collections and walls packed with naughty Victorian photographs. Food, served 12pm-5pm, is imported from a local cafe in the heart of Kemp Town. One constant on the keg dispensers is Brugse Zot blond – the only beer brewed and lagered in Bruges, apparently – while belgium also supplies a selection of fruit beers. Jazz concerts on Sunday nights, too.
