What it says on the shaker! The initials stand for bring your own cocktails – the first time this speakeasy concept with a genuine twist has made its way outside London’s Camden and Covent Garden. What happens is: you pay a set fee of £20, bring along your alcohol of choice and the bartenders whip up a series of bespoke drinks to suit your personal taste. Fortunately BYOC, a chic bolthole tucked away in The Lanes, boasts some seriously good mixologists with a choice roster of home-made syrups, cordials and bitters alongside pressed fresh fruit juices, vegetable juices and spices. Well, it saves having to wade through a convoluted cocktail list; the downside the £20 gets you just two hours of bartender attention. It is a plus that the setting is also rather lovely with appropriate glassware, a 1920s vibe and a bijou six-seater cinema. Recommended.
